Welcome to Year 6
Please visit Our Curriculum section of our website, where you will find our Class Overviews which detail what we will be learning this term.
Autumn 2
In English we will be exploring the book Floodlands over a few weeks, thinking about how it is written, the techniques the author uses to address the reader and the quality of the overall text. We will move on to quality writing in the same style as the author.
We will continue to work hard to learn the statuary spellings.
In Maths we will continue to work on written methods of the four operations then will move on to fractions, decimals and percentages.
In science we will study animals including humans, focussing on the circulatory system, diet and exercise and the impact that our lifestyle has on our bodies.
In Design and Technology, we will look at how shelters are structured then will design our own shelters, thinking about how to reinforce them, making them fit for purpose.
In computing, we will use programmes to sequence activities, using a variety of inputs and outputs. We will change things within the programme and predict the outcome.
In history, we will study the Benin Kingdom, comparing it with England at that time. We will look at cause and effect, linking this to BLM. We will use this knowledge to describe change over time.
